There are three main plot lines that the player will have the chance to experience, one for each of the heroines in the story. Hey everyone. Here's a (sloppy) tutorial on how to get the visual novel Fate/Stay Night Realta Nua working on a Mac. I HIGHLY suggest you read the description's FAQ in case something goes.

Orphaned and the sole survivor of a massive fire in Fuyuki City as a child, Shirō was taken in by a retired magus named Kiritsugu Emiya, who would die years later. His responsibility to those who died and his own salvation through his father formed a strong desire for justice and peace in him. Thus, he earnestly trains his body and minuscule ability with magic to someday greatly help others, even if at his stage people often abuse his generosity. One evening, after seeing two devastatingly powerful beings trading blows at his school with swords and spears, he is attacked, as witnesses to the Holy Grail War are generally supposed to be eliminated. Chased all the way to his home by the spear-wielding warrior Lancer, and barely able to avoid his attacks, Shirō is about to be killed when he is saved.

Saber, the personification of a renowned figure in history ( in her case) created to aid participants in the War. In her supposedly accidental summoning and the appearance of the marks on Shirou's hand, his entry as a Master into the Holy Grail War is formalized. Fate The first of the three heroines, Saber is an agile and powerful warrior who retains her identity, hence her substitute name after her role as a member of the Saber class. She also serves as the route's servant protagonist. She was the victor of the Fourth Holy Grail War with another Master and claims to be the strongest out of all Servants in the Saber Class.

However, Shirou is against Saber's constant aim for conflicts with other servants and instead seeks to form an alliance with Rin. Shirou decides to drop his pacifism when he discovers that his former friend, Shinji Matou, is a Master, with the Servant Rider, aiming to kill all the students from their school to increase Rider's powers. Following Shinji and Rider's defeat, Shirou learns that Saber cannot fight at her full strength without an exchange of mana energy of her master.

During a confrontation with the Master Illya and her Servant Berserker, Shirou passes Saber his Mana and later assists her to defeat the enemy by projecting one of Arturia's swords in combat. As Shirou seeks aid in order to keep Saber in their world, he learns from the priest Kirei Kotomine that the Holy Grail is cursed. It is revealed that Shirou's late guardian, Kiritsugu, once used Saber to destroy the Grail, but it instead caused the fire where Shirou lost his family. Shirou rejects the idea of accepting his wish of the Holy Grail as he decides to accept his past and not forget Saber. Moved by Shirou, Saber also rejects the Holy Grail, believing she should not change Britain's history. As Kotomine aims to use Illya's body to recreate the Holy Grail, Shirou and Saber confront him and his servant Gilgamesh.

Following Shirou's and Saber's victories, Shirou orders Saber to destroy the Grail. This causes Saber to go back to her last moments before her death. In the PlayStation 2 port version of the game, a new ending is unlocked where Shirou becomes a heroic spirit in order to meet Saber in the afterlife of heroes, Avalon.

Unlimited Blade Works The second of the three heroines is, a model student and idol of Shirō's school who is secretly a magus and Master of in the Holy Grail War. Her servant Archer serves as the servant protagonist of the route. She descends from a long, distinguished line of magi, and though she lacks a formal magic education, she is extremely powerful and gifted in her own right. Though she is dubbed 'The Ice Queen' by classmates for her cold, yet awe-inspiring, unreachable, persona at school, the words: perceptive, resourceful, haughty, gentle, spiteful, and rash when flustered are but a small collection to describe her when her identity as a magus is revealed.

Her presence in the story is established shortly after Shirō is killed by Lancer at school, whereupon seeing him she revives him in respect to her apparent connection to Shirō. As such, the two decide to become allies in the war, unaware of Archer's true identity as an adult Shirō from one of the series' numerous alternate universes. Rin is the main female of the Unlimited Blade Works route, as well as Shirou's love interest and girlfriend. During the story, Shirou loses control of Saber, but instead aims to fight with his own magical strength to stop the war.

Archer betrays Rin and challenges Shirou to a fight hoping to destroy his story of being a hero. However, Shirou accepts his future regardless of the regrets and misery, deciding to stick to Kiritsugu's ideals. Gilgamesh tries to kill Archer and Shirou, with the former sacrificing to protect the former. In order to follow Archer's hopes, Rin passes Shirou her mana to fight Gilgamesh to replicate Archer's powers.

As Shirou nearly kills Gilgamesh, Archer uses his last strength to deliver the final attack at their enemy while assisting Saber to destroy the Holy Grail. In the True Ending, Shirou and Rin move to London. Heaven's Feel The third and final heroine is, a first year high school student who often visits Shirō's home to help him with his daily chores. She has an unparalleled, deep affection for Shirō in light of the pure, earnest effort he puts into everything and the hope she gains for herself in observing it. However, as Rin's long-lost sister, she is constantly tormented and pushed into being the perfect mage by her adoptive family. During Heaven's Feel, Shirou becomes worried about whether or not Sakura is a participant of the Holy Grail War.

Sakura is revealed to be the true master of and in the route she becomes reaffirmed as Rider's master and Shinji loses complete control of Rider. In turn making Rider the servant protagonist of the route. Rider begins to solely protect Sakura and by extension becomes the main servant of the Emiya household and the only servant outside of Zouken Matō's control. Saber is consumed by the shadows of Angra Manyu, becoming a corrupted servant.

In a battle royale between Archer, Saber Alter, True Assassin and Berserker, Berserker had been consumed by the shadow and Archer was mortally wounded. In his last moments, Archer transplant his left arm to Shirou's body. It is later revealed Sakura has been used by Zouken to become the personification of the Holy Grail, Angra Manyu after placing a shard of the lesser grail from the 4th Holy Grail War in her body. Sakura is later consumed by her dark side brought about by her soul being infected by Angra Mainyu and All the World's Evil after an encounter with her brother, Shinji who tried to rape her and she killed him in response. Sakura becomes Dark Sakura and commits acts of evil. Upon learning that Illya is another sacrifice to create the Grail, Shirou teams up with Kotomine to save the child.

Shirou uses Archer's powers to save Illya from Berserker. Shirou, Rin and Rider team up, Shirou and Rider wish to save Sakura whereas Rin wishes to kill her. While Rin and Sakura engage in battle and though it seemed that Rin was about to emerge victorious and kill Dark Sakura, Rin out of love for her little sister could not bring herself to do it in the end and instead hugs her sister and becomes injured in the process. As Rider engages in battle with Saber Alter both she and Shirou initiate their plan to allow her to defeat Saber Alter. After distracting Saber Alter, Rider lands a sneak attack with her chains and binds Saber Alter's knees and then drags her to the ground to tether her by impaling the ground with her dagger.

Using that small window of opportunity Rider readies her noble phantasm Bellerophon and fires it at Saber Alter with Saber Alter countering with her own noble phantasm. During the collision of noble phantasms, Shirou using Archer's projection power, projects a Rho Aias around Rider so that she wouldn't be killed by Excalibur. The shield lasts long enough for Rider's Bellerophon to penetrate the attack and rams Saber Alter with great force. It weakens Saber Alter enough for Shirou to take the opportunity to kill her with the Azoth sword given to him by Rin. After doing so he goes to check on Rider and sees that her mana has almost been completely drained and is very fatigued from the long battle she endured against Saber Alter. Shirou tells her that he's going on ahead and when she's healed enough she should pursue him. After going to where Sakura is he is able to get Sakura to regain her humanity and free her from her contract with Angra Mainyu.

Rider then arrives and Shirou tells her to take Sakura and a fatally wounded Rin to safety and to return for him afterwards. Shirou faces Kotomine in a final battle in order to later destroy the Grail. Following Kotomine's death in combat, Illya sacrifices herself to destroy the Grail and transplant Shirou's soul using forbidden magic. Rider later returns to the cave to grab and bring Shirou's soul home and Rin was able to place it within a puppet body.
